Japan is not a good place for beggars and useless people. A slow walking monk goes against the grain and gain, everything must run smoothly and effectively, things need to rush and of course a monk doing takuhatsu gets in the way. I can’t put a foot in Kyoto station now without having an army of JR guards inviting me out, once on the front pavement I am even politely kicked away. Part of me doesn’t like it at all (you bet that the arrogant brat gets his feathers easily ruffled) but it is fun too. Playing like children, playing hide and seek.
